and you found out that she was bad mouthing you (we are over 30 years old) so not kid stuff....anyway, I'm now having trust issue problems and I don't feel like I can trust anyone anymore. I don't want to be like that. Has this ever happened to you? I mean this is a person you would have thought you could trust 110% and I was wrong. She isn't someone I can brush out of my life either as there are "relative" issues too. Plus, I'm in a situation where I can't tell her I know what was said. Can someone help me trust again?

Yes another friend told me - he's proven I can trust him with ANYTHING. He was worried that I would share too much information with her - he didn't want to say anything to me but he felt I deserved to know (as he would want to know). It MAY have been a jealousy thing -- I don't know why she did this.

sounds like something i am going through. all i can say is bad mouthing you is pretty childish. i am 30 something and trust is gone. do what i do be civil at family functions but no longer trust this person with anything. catch up on what's going on no gossip. it hurts knowing that you lost someone that at one time you could trust with your feelings.

I can understand where you are coming from. I am over 30 and recently went thru a similar experience. I couldn't cut her out either cause we work together. I did confront her with it though. She admitted to it only after lying about it for a few days. We are still "friends" but I will never trust her completely again!

How did you find out that she was bad-mouthing you? did another "friend" reported it to you? If yes, I'd be suspicious of that alleged friend, who could be jealous of you. Meanwhile, yes you can confront her, regardless of any promises you've made to keep the secret. Who is lying- the source or the friend? Go with your gut feelings. Good luck!

there is no need for trust yet, you need to confront her on this issue if she blows you off or denys it, you should confront her in front of others
