Guinea pigs don't sleep with their eyes closed unless really relaxed, but they like to sleep with their eyes open to be alerted for any present danger.

Yes, they do close their eyes! Haven't you ever seen a guinea pig sleep? - Sorry if that just sounded harsh.

guinea pigs do not sleep. they run in circles until finally just falling down dead. in 1952 a researcher began testing what would happen if the pigs actually slept and the pet has actually outlived the scientist. he is still alive and quite lively. makes you wonder....
