I'm in full support of Beyonce, and I like that PETA fights for a great cause, but the manner in which they did it was wrong. How would you act if it happened to you? She was stunned because they were presenting her with an uncomfortable topic in an inappropriate manner while at lunch; plus, Beyonce is pretty timid and quiet in real life. She seems like the person to not argue or debate with anyone which is also one of the reasons she was quiet and looked stunned in the surprising encounter.
I'm not defending Beyonce because she's popular and gorgeous, and whatever else people comment her on, but I'm taking up for her because I think that she's a kind, sweet, and loving lady. Yes, PETA sent her letters in an appropriate manner even years before this incident to plead her not to wear fur, but she chose to continue to do it instead. If that is what she chooses to do, it's her business. After all, it is wrong to assume that people killed the animals to get the fur, it could've been done by other means. If it is done by that means, I'm sure Beyonce didn't intend for it to happen - animal cruelty. I support Beyonce and I support PETA, but the manner in which PETA personally exploited her through posing as fans/ candidly taping Beyonce (who was there for charity to raise money for VH1 Save the Music) was UNethical on their part.
I was actually going to become a member of PETA, but after this incident, in conjunction with the many other harsh incidents PETA was involved in with other celebrities, I choose NOT to support an organization who uses unfairness and violence to supposedly get a message of fairness and nonviolence across. PETA is contradicting themselves, although their fighting for a good cause.

I think it PETA was wrong in this case, and that this was done in bad taste. First, Beyonce having dinner with them was an act of CHARITY (benefitting "Save the Music"). What was the thinking there? "Let's make Beyonce look bad....WHILE she's doing charity!"
As a result, PETA has created this divide and hurt their cause. While Beyonce's use of fur should be questioned, they certainly chose the wrong venue. Jeers to PETA.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. It is one thing to schedule a press-conference where the person is prepared to answer questions, but this was supposed to be an impromtu dinner. You know, for fun? And Beyonce is not that good at answering questions even when she KNOWS that an interview is planned. That was like trying to make a rock swim. They knew they would she would fail.
While I know that she uses fur aren't there alot of good things that she does through her children's charity and her work with the AIDS epidemic in Africa? I guess that doesn't count for anything.

Of course it is fair, PETA is People for the Ethical treatment of Animals. This is what they do.Why don't you take time to educate youself before you side with celebrities like Beyonce?
According to Wikipedia:
PETA's philosophy is that "animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment." In support of that position, it focuses on four core issues: factory farming, vivisection or animal testing, fur farming, and animals in entertainment, as well as fishing, the killing of animals regarded as pests, abuse of backyard dogs, and cock fighting. The organization works through public education, undercover investigations, animal rescue, and government lobbying. It also takes in animals, including strays and those given to PETA by their owners, finding homes for some and euthanizing the rest.
Also go to www.furisdead.com to read about the Beyonce occurrence and other things including this:
The fur ads you might see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths. Millions of fur-bearing animals including foxes, raccoons, minks, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, otters, and others are killed each year on fur farms by anal and vaginal electrocution and in the wild by drowning, trapping, or beating.
Now maybe having the celebrity of your choice wearing fur is more important to you than how an animal suffers in order to become her asset, but to some of us it is an ethical issue.

Have you seen what they do to the creatures they 'harvest' for the fur? They skin them alive and leave them to bleed to an agonising death. People like Beyonce (dumb name by the way), J-Lo (dumber name) and Diddy (dumbest name in history) make me sick. All so cutesy and perfect from the outside, but look beyond the PR exterior and you have an egomaniac who couldn't give a flying f*** about anything beyond her plastic nails and gormless ****. And yes, dead Africans on Congolese diamond fields are an issue. But so is fur.
