yahoo , msn, icq and trillion will not allow .exe or executable files to be transfered through thier service, but your ip can be used to access your puter and if you have remote access enabled there is a possibility.

well normally NOPE ! but it depends upon you if you want to get prevented from hackers... avoid accepting the files sent by users... dam care if it looks like an Picture too because it's binded with virus where in Backdoor virus is doing it's job....
YOU JUST CHECK PROPERTIES OF PICTURE YOU RECIEVED AND IF YOU SEE .exe at end .. like Roses.jpg.exe then it's virus.... or trojan and all hackers need is to sent trojan to your computer! so, it's you who make hackers success or Failure!

If he's Pro hacker... then he can do it easily... stealing your ip and doing tasks BUT STILL REQUIRES TO LOAD FILES OR TROJANS TO YOUR COMPUTER

If yahoo messenger is like msn messenger i possitive that they can't. Unless some one sent you an email with a worm or whateva. I hope this helps.

If you don't keep your system up to date, IM is one way that some viruses can be spread. You do not need to actually be chatting with someone for these viruses to spread.
