daaaling,, your filter needs a good cleaning..... throw a cup of white vinegar in with your next load, and yes use jet dry too in the little dispenser that is usually built into your door, just unscrew the plug and fill it with the jet dry.

One thing you could do is put on a whole house water filter besides the ideas mentioned above. We have a well so once in a while we would get grit in the dishwasher. So we put on a whole house water filter which you change the cartage every 2 weeks depending on the amount of grit. It did make a huge difference. It was less than 100 dollars but well worth it.

Use Jet Dry and it is a rinsing agent that you add usually once a month to your dishwasher. It makes your dishes shinier, leaves no grit nor spots. Several different detergent companies make their own brand. You don't just have to use Jet Dry. You can choose Dawn or Palmolive's rinsing agent. My opinion is Jet Dry last longer and works better.

Sounds as if you're using well water as opposed to municiple water. Try to use a shop vac to thoroughly clean the bottom filter of the dishwasher. Shop vac and clean the seals around the dishwasher and once you've done this clean a set of dishes to see if the sand deposits are back. If they come back you well might be running dry.

I have the same problem with my apartments ghetto dishwasher. There really isnt a lot that you can do about it, besides running your dishwasher more than once, not filling it quite as much, and making sure you pre-rinse your dishes. Other than that, I suggest getting a new dishwasher. LOL

Add Jet Dry (goes in the round hole next to where you add the detergent)

If that doesn't work, the things that spin around in there spraying water can get stuff gunking up the holes where the water comes out. If that's the case, you can poke them out with a toothpick, but it's best to remove the propeller things & clean em out thouroughly.

You must have hard water. Get a water softening agent especially made for dishwashers, like Jet-dry.

Clean your dishwasher they make a cleaner that you put in the soap dispencer than run it through without any dishes in it. It will leave the dishwasher sparkly clean. Use every couple months.
