i was at a lake with ducks and swans floating abt when 3 swans went heads under the water for ages...they swam along in a line all with their heads under water. anyone tell me what they were doin? it was scary i thought mayb their heads were caught in something keeping them under but after a few minutes they would come up for air and dive back under.

Most likely they were eating. Most species of water birds skim that way... They were either fishing or skimming the underwater for small plants. Its normal, no worries. :)

They were eating. Ducks do this all the time. Think it was most likely a coincidence that they were all in a line foraging at the same time. It does look rather funny when they do it though.
