More specificly for amps, would I have to buy a special battery powered amp, or can you run a normal amp off some kind of battery?

I have busked in the Boston subway. I did it acoustically. Some stations have good acoustics, but they are not neccessarily the places people will drop in money. I now have a Roland Micro Cube amp. plenty ballsy, and it runs off 115v or 6 AA's (Cost: $125.)
It models six popular amps, and has many fx.
Some take a car battery and run off of an inverter
(changes DC to AC). Make sure inverter is rated for enough watts. Batteries are heavy.
Burn some CDs of yourself and sell them for $10.
Make sure to mix up the tempos, and do short songs if you're in the subway. Ask for contributions- you are providing a service.
Play what the audience wants to hear. Most 50 yo
people don't want Staind or Korn. Talk to the people-
have an act, it's entertainment!
Learn how to handle hecklers.
You may need a license. You do in Boston.
Be courteous.
Good luck!
