My little girl wrapped phone cording around her neck a bunch of times the day before turning 2, and has been attempting similar stunts ever since almost weekly! She just turned 8. She even tries to kill her sister! And, she head rams me, whops me, & otherwise injures me!

A two-year-old is too young to understand what suicide itself is. However, it probably isn't unrealistic for a child at that age to do something "suicidal," for example, almost fall down a flight of stairs, stick a metal object in an electrical socket, etc. They don't know that doing such actions can be harmful if not deadly.

I worked in hospital admitting for many years. We had an adolescent psych unit. Once we admitted a four year old for a suicide attempt. He was having a fight with his mother while they were driving. He yelled he was going to kill himself and jumped out of the moving car. That is the youngest I remember.

I don't think at that age they comprehend the idea of death and killing themself. So no, I don't think that it is possible for a 2 year old child to attempt suicide.

no, at that age they have no idea what suicide is or means...the 2 year old might be a very curious one and try to do some bold things, but suicide is definitely out of the question at that age...

No! They aren't self-aware yet, so they don't really know they can get hurt. That is why they touch stoves and have to learn what "hot" means and why they head for the stairs in their little walkie-strollers. They seem to have a death wish, but they really don't. They are exploring their new found mobility and boundaries.

no somebody has to help the child that is somebody has to poison it or else it could be a simple case of accident

It could happen......It could happen becuase if the two year old got a hand of a knife or a gun it could stab it's self or shoot it self!
