I believe critical thinking involves more than just a superficial answer. When given a problem or question and asked to do some critical thinking, break down the problem and dig into resources in order to get a more in-depth answer or solution.

To me the term "critical thinking" is about education and learning, and is quite a complex topic. Today we try to emphasize the teaching of critical thinking skills. Such skills include the ability to think to solve everyday problems, creativity, brainstorming, memory skills, innovation, etc.
One of the symbols for me of critical thinking is Rodin's famous sculpture, The Thinker.
