Cats are pretty intelligent, for critters that small. They can and do form strong attachments to "their" people. An older woman keeping a cat may be that cat's sole companion and friend and food source. Is it any wonder the cat is always sticking close?

I'm an older woman (older than anyone 44 and younger, that is) and my mostly-black cat follows me around the house all day, apparently looking for a chance to wrap herself around my ankle and trip me up. I think she hates me.
