No. Nothing religious is allowed at a civil ceremony. Not even popular songs mentioning angels, for example! The rules are very strict.

I got married last year, and we had a civil service... You cannot have ANY religious references be it in song or poems etc... Thats the beauty of a civil ceromony!!!

You can have music played as you walk in and out and very quietly during, but it cannot be religious... The ceromony is not long enough to have song breaks anyway... It is literally 15-30 mins... In and out... Its brilliant!!!

If you want the religious element, why not get married in church???

i think you are not allowed to play any kind of song in a civil marriage ceremony... but to make sure... you can ask the authority in there... a day or two before the actual ceremony
