I don't know if any of you have tried The Melting Pot or if you even have this particular rest. in your area. I live in NC and my hubby and I went there Friday to celebrate our anniversary. It's a fondue rest. where you cook your own food right at your table. We had the best dinner I've ever had and I was in the rest. business for 9 years. The atmosphere, the food, the service were terrific. The prices were a bit exorbent but with a 4 course meal I really can't complain. If any of you get a chance to try it we had:

Wisconsin cheese fondue with bread, veggies and granny smith apples.
Mushroom salad
Coq a vin fondue with filet, terriaki sirloin, tiger shrimp and lobster with veggies
and flaming turtle chocolate fondue

Dinner took about an hour and a half. It was well worth the time and the money spent. Especially for a special occassion. You can even go just for dessert. OMG it was delicious!

and if you're in Greensboro, definately ask for Beth. She was outstanding!

It did cost us around $100 including tip but we tried everything and got the Big Deal so that we could experience it all. They do have less expensive things on the menu and yes it is vegetarian friendly. It's not something most of us can do often but it is fantastic for special occassions.

No there wasn't a question, as you could see, it was just informative. :-)

I LOVE the melting pot. I went to the one in Columbus, OH. I second that recommendation- it's very tasty:) AND, it's vegetarian-friendly (a rare thing in Ohio), so it gets an extra gold star in my book!

Funny you mention this..
My fiance decided to go to the late night fondue one night. i called to make sure they were doing it and the manager told me yeah, he would make sure they were still open. we got there (about 1/2 hour drive) and the doors were locked. i still had the number in my phone so i called and they said they had closed because they werent busy. we were furious.
i went home and emailed the store and the general manager called and apologized and asked for my address and was going to send mt a voucher...........real polite, talked about 20 minutes.
that was a month ago. no voucher.

i will never go to the melting pot.

We went to The Melting Pot in Kansas City. The rest of the group loved it. My fiancee and I did not enjoy it. We thought it was really overrated.

I'm in Texas, and we've been thinking about going there, and we checked out their website for a menu, sounds delish!

Glad you had a great time!

It's good, but pricey, and it's very easy to eat too much and feel totally stuffed!
