My friend installed a second hard drive in his computer, and Windows designated them like this:
C: 1st HD
D:1st DVD drive
E: 2nd DVD drive
F: 2nd HD

He would prefer it like this:
C: 1st HD
D: 2nd HD
E: 1st DVD drive
F: 2nd DVD drive

Thanks!

Go to Start -> All programs -> Administrative tools -> Computer management.
Choose Disk management from the folder tree on the left... it will show all hard disks on the right side. Right click your mouse on the drive and choose "Change drive letter and path"

If you do not see Administrative tools... do this:
Right click on the Start button... click on properties... click on start menu tab on top... choose the first option "Start menu"... click on customize...click on advanced tab on top... scroll down the list and choose "System administrative tools...Display on all programs menu".

Windows XP with SP2 automatically designate a drive letter when you add a drive (ie Floppy Drive, Hard Disk, CD/DVD, flash drive, external drive or it even designate a card reader to a drive letter), it designate or allocate the drive according to hardware setup on the its Bios or according to which IDE connector or SATA connection, most motherboard standard have two IDE connector for hard disk & CD/DVD, Primary IDE & SEcondary IDE, each IDE connector can accomodate two Drive, you must connect your two hard disk on Primary IDE & connect the two DC/DVD drive on Secondary IDE so that Windows XP allocate your hard Disk to C: D: & DVD drives to E: & F: & if you cannot do it your self just e-mail me & i will be glad to help you.

Go to Computer management by either right-clicking on the desktop "My Computer" icon and clicking "Manage" or right-clicking the "My Computer" icon on the start menu and clicking "Manage".

Now, in that you will find a link called "Disk Management" on the left panel, click it.

Now you will be shown a panel on the right with areas representing your different partitions. Right click on the required partition, and choose "Change Drive Letter".

have fun!
