That is, indeed, a predicament. Thieving squirrels!
Take the proper nut-protecting precautions. No one likes leaving their nuts unguarded. And no one should.
My first suggestion is: don't leave them out. That will make it easy for the squirrels to get their filthy hands on them. Keep them out of reach. If a squirrel makes a motion to try and get them, grab them before the squirrel can get to them.
My second suggestion is: Recruit a friend to keep an eye on them while you sleep. Trust me, you don't want to wake up to find out that your nuts are gone. You have to sleep some time and the squirrels know that. There is no better meal to them than unguarded nuts.
Thirdly, you could always offer them someone else's nuts. Find a friend who doesn't need theirs anymore. Ask your married friends first.
