Punk rock is democratic, fun and cool.
I mean, wasn't that the big "revolution" of music when punk rockers decided that anybody could pick up a guitar and strum three cords and still make music?
And as for fun factor and coolness of it - well, look at the Sex Pistols, look at their fashion advisor Vivienne Westwood - cool.

Hot Topic uses contrived identification with youth sub-cultures
to manufacture an antiauthoritarian identity and
make millions. That $8 you paid for the Mudvayne poster
would be better spent used for seeing your brothers
friends band. DIY ethics are punk rock! Starting your
own label is punk rock! GG Allin was punk rock! But when
a crass corporate vulture feeds on mass consumer
culture, then spending Mommys money is not punk rock!

Because the songs tend to be about real life, the problems, government, rules etc. and many suggest ways to rebel, something that is being knocked out of us by consecutive governments.

It hasn't. This stuff around now is just pop music and crappy guitar chords mixed with vomit. That's it, nothing punk about it. Sorry.

Because it's fast, simple and catchy, anyone can play it, and it's rebelious enough to go against society, whilst not rebelious enough to get you into trouble or put yourself out on a limb - which is just what young people want.
