My period comes like once every few months. I think its been about 5 or 6 months since my last period and I'm 25. No, not pregnant, but I'm worried I will not be able to have children.

This might be long but bear with me here. I have irregular periods. I had them about every 6 months until i joined the military and i havent had one on my own for the last year and a half. It is hard to find out when you can and cant get pregnant. But, if you have a doctor that monitors everything you can get everything to the T. I have something called PCOS. Polycistic OVary Syndrome. It means that for some unknown reason my body doesnt have a cycle. I think it has something to do with the hormone levels in my body. It could be many different things. You could have cysts and not know it. (not trying to scare you)

What i would do is go talk a doc about it and ask him about PCOS and if you do have it ask him about clomid. Then Ovarian Drilling. I know it is hard to follow but since you dont have a cycle there is not way to have a baby because you do not ovulate and your body doesnt release the eggs.

I would go talk to your doc and they all kinds of ways to make you get pregnant.

I have been trying for 1yr now and i have been through a surgery and clomid and metphormin and many ultra sounds. I wish you the best of luck.

the fact is, you are having periods and that means you are ovulating and having a menstrual cycle, therefore you should be able to get pregnant. No one has mastered the "timing" of conception, some women conceive 14 days before their periods, some can get pregnant DURING their periods...your egg can drop anytime really and what is meant to be, will be. Pregnancy is a miracle, so be patient.

Your guess may be right. If you only get your period once every few months, means your egg is only released once in a ferw months., which means its quite impossible to get pregnant unless you know exactly when the egg will be released. You should consult a gyneacologist (a specialist in women's health) as soon as you can. He/She may be able to give you some professional advices about your hormonal imbalance problem. May God Bless you...

A good friend of mine got her period twice a year. She had several other problems and the doctors told her her chances of getting pregnant were slim to none. She took fertility pills and now has a healthy and beautiful 2 month old little girl. Good luck!

Generally periods that irregular are part of another condition. The most common condition is called PCOS.

There are things you can do to have your period more frequently, however it requires the assistance of a doctor.

Here is a great support site for PCOS:

You can get pregnant as long as you ovulate, sounds like you might need to see a doc. Have you had any testing for PCOS?

Yes, you are still able to get pregnant even when your period is irregular. A lot has to do with chemical imbalance. I recommend you check with your obgyn and discuss this concern w/ him/her.

my cousin had this problem and she is unable to have children. I would talk to your gynecologist about this. They would be the ones to know, not people on here.
