I was wondering if you guys know of anything that might be around the house you can use as fertilizer? Food scraps etc? Or mixes of things to make your own fertilizers?

Most food scraps can be put into a compost heap. You should also compost green garden waste such as lawn mowings, hedge clippings &c.

If you have only a small garden, you may find a worm bin is more practical.

Well, I have two pet cluckers and last year I used their dumps on my tomato plants and got tomato plants that grew to 8 feet high. You need cluckers for this, though, but their buttwerks are much faster than composting food scraps.

So the net result was I took table scraps and ran them through a chicken first. Chickens will eat almost anything, even stones. Faster than composting and it worked wonders on the tomatoes.

Take vegtable peelings, place in a blender, add 2 - 4 cups of water and puree. The result is a liquid fertilzor much like compost without the heaving lifting or turning of the compost heap. I use this to water my outside plants with every other week or so. It wont burn the plants as it is not chemical.
