if, by putting the prefix (i think thats what its called) , if by putting the prefix "im" infront of a word.. it changes it to the opposite doesnt it..

like for example..
perfect.... --> IMperfect (not perfect)

so i was thinking.. about the word IMportant...
then does.. "portant" mean something that is not important?

or am i just wasting ma brain cells and asking silly questions??

U ar'nt wasting ur brain cells. IM is not always a prefix; lets take a word like impregnate; it means to make pregnant. A word like important means very valuable, of great significance. IM means "very" here, and not "not" as u visualise.

When a question starts with "im", it stops being a prefix, and just becomes part of the word.

The prefix for the nagative of important is "un" - unimportant. They couldn't have used im, otherwise it would have been imimportant - lol!!

i think you could have wasted brain cells on a better question, because important doesnt have a prefix...try asking a really perplexing question...

your question would be the same as
> "practice makes perfect... nobody's perfect... so why practice?"
> "if nobody's perfect and im a nobody, then im perfect. so why practice?"
> "if you believe that the truth will set you free, then why does it put a lot of people in trouble?"
