The war on drugs can not be won and it was never the US position to even try. What is one of the top growth industries in the US? if you said criminal justice you would be correct. We have been building more prisons than schools since the early 1990s.
What I think is immaterial because in the true scheme of things there is little hope for truth or justice in this world. I am not a defeatist, just a realist.

No it's just plain silly. Those billions could be diverted to education. Focusing on Life Skills classes, Better teachers with better pay, and help the USA keep the technological edge the president said we need to remain the worlds strongest economic powerhouse. Without revamping our school system this is an improbability.

A worhtless war wagered against the poor as always.Spend it on homelessness and health care. But the prisons would go out of business wouldnt they.Prisons are big business in the US and this free society has more people per capita in prison than any other in the world.Theres to much money to be lost (for them)And Ill bet a majority got there for a pot bust. Not to mention the pharmaceutical companies couldnt sell anybody their poison if drugs were legal, could they?

No. Legalize it, tax it, and let everyone out of prison who's in there for a charge related to it. Doesn't anyone remember prohibition? Actually, I think that most drugs should be legal, even though my drug of choice is an ice cold beer. While we should legalize them, there should be VERY stiff penalties for providing kids with drugs or killing someone while driving under the influence.

i think the first question to ask is how much does the government reap from the properties, etc acquired from the higher ranking "drug lords" when they are busted...or what chain of events might occur afterwards (subsequent busts, etc)...you need to look at the bigger picture...i have a feeling there are more rewards than the "little guys" think.

To quote Gov. Jessie Ventura...
"If you can't even keep it out of prisons, how are you going to keep it out of America."
