The other night my fiance (black male) and I (white female) tried to go see a movie at Universal Citywalk, Orlando, FL when we were yelled at and kicked out. It started when we were on the people mover and reached the "The Knuckle", where valet is and walked over to the next people mover we were shoved by some and decided to just walk the rest of the way (along with others who did the same). The security guard only went after my fiance, not me or any one else (who all happened to be white or hispanic). My fiance turned around and went back on the people mover and of course was upset, that's when the guard went to far and decided to kick us out. Even afterwards people still went down the same way that we tried to but none were stopped, and none were black.
This isn't the first time that Universal has discriminated against us, but it definitely is the last. Just was wondering if anyone else has a similar story. Also wanted to inform people of how Universal feels about blacks.

No the Security Guards are part of Universal employees, they are not contracted by Citywalk. And like I said Universal has treated us like this before (along with many other places) but never to this extreme.

well you are not the only one, my hubby is white n im black, we were in spain and went in this restaurant sat and waited for my husband to bring food coz it was self service, you wont believe this white employee came and told me to stand up, this really hurts especially when it comes to skin colors, why behave that way i thought racism was ignorant but they still do it so intensly, even in shopping malls they wont serve you or ask you how can they help you. i was really hurt by that experience, and some of them just think black ladies are prostitutes and nothing else.

Back in the early 70's I worked in this bar in Lafayette Louisiana. I couldn't believe they made the black people get beer from a window in the back. They were not allowed in the bar. I was fresh from Massachusetts at the time and very shocked that this went on. I only worked there for about 3 days and I quit. The vibes were all wrong. I have often wondered if it is still going on there.

If you live in the US and are a minority you will experience racism, especially if you travel a lot.
I've never known a white guy having been stopped while driving and had their vehicle searched because of looking "suspicious", and without having a any violation justifying getting pulled over. I've had that experience several times while driving.
I've also had people treat me badly at hotels and restaurants because I'm not white... for example receiving slower service or being ignored.
I've even been pulled out of airport waiting areas for a search of my luggage (1x NY, 1TX) and that was before 9/11.

sucks
but you can say universal feels that way about blacks
universal is a huge corporation.. you got treated like that by some security gaurds.. probably contracted by citywalk to work there.. not even employees of universal
generalising those security gaurds as universal and saying that universal is prejudice is just like generalising your fiance as all black people and saying that means all black people cause problems

I've had some uncomfortable experiences in other establishements but they were a bit more subtle, such as "Looks" or just plain being ignored in restaurants where it was so subtle it would be hard to prove, but yet I felt it! If you and your fiance were wronged by Universal, I would definitley write or speak to the corporate offices and let them know what happening so they are aware of what is going on...and definitley take your business where it is appreciated!

Not necessarily racism, but discrimination. I guarantee you it hurts and angers just as much. Try being a Muslim, an American Muslim, in this day and age, not even one that covers her hair, and travel. I travel with my mom a lot, neither of us cover our hair, and we ALWAYS, without exception, get "randomly checked." They make us stand there in front of all the fifty other people that are obvioulsy not going to be checked and search us. It is so disgusting, talk about violation.

that's horrible! I heard stories about Disneyland in Anaheim too. I was only 2 years old, so I don't remember it, but we went with a family we knew, they are black, and we are white.. we sat together at meals, and hung out together. Disneyland patrons and staff were freaked out and wouldn't serve us...
but then we went back to their home in Compton to stay with them, the blacks were suprised.. until the lady mentioned "oh, they're friends of ours from Canada" and we were treated awesome.
unfortunately, I get treated like dirt occasionally by others, because I am white, but love my heritage. doesn't seem to matter that I don't hate theirs, but a white person isn't allowed to like their heritage.
oh, and one other thing: we're born pink, turn red in the sun, black and blue when hurt, blue in the cold and purple when we die... and "blacks" are the " coloured" ones? huh????
