you cant never be fully prepared and its always different with each birth but i can tell you that the worst part is being scared its not so bad and i actually love giving birth its a beautiful thing,, as far as getting cut i did with my first on the bottom and then with my second i did on top and bottom (two cuts ) but my third was more natural no epidural and the nurse was helping to open me up and i never got cut but anyways you dont feel the cut so the only way you would know is when the tell you and of course afterwords cause it does hurt more after the dilivery if that happens .. it is so important to have a good nurse good luck

well, I was in "prelabor" for a week...they check you like they do at the clinic--with their fingers. It is a little uncomfortable, but you'll be fine.
You will need to decide if you are having pain meds. I wasn't going to but I had a epidural and I recommend it. They will give you this whenever you request it during labor. That was a little hard but worth it--they stick a needle in your back...but then you feel all tingly starting at your toes and then you feel RELAXED!
You may ask not to be cut ( called an episiotomy), but you may likely tear. The reason for the cut is to keep you from tearing all the way to your bum hole...if the doctor thinks a cut is necesary, it may be better. I tore a little but you don't feel it.
Anyway, they will put an iv in you and continue to check down there. I had my water broken at 6 cm. Until you get closer to delivery, they will probably have you walk around which is kinda relaxing.
my biggest recommendation: learn a breathing technique BEFORE it is time to push. I didn't and they ended up using forceps to pull her out. I believe the hardest part of delivery is the recovery. Sure pushin was rough, but the stitching up and then the first BM and walking around, etc...You will do much better if you relax. ( I know its easier said than done)

The incision is called an epistomy and is not NORMALLY utilized anymore. Most Dr's. will only make an incision if it is medically necessary.
The best thing you can do to prepare yourself for labor is relax. Easier said than done, but just remember you aren't sick, and the pain is for a reason... to birth a baby...Millions of women have been doing this for thousands of years... You CAN do it!
BTW-- I'm right there with you expecting my first any day now...

Everyone is afraid right before delivery, especially if it's your first. You will not feel the cut. There is so much pressure from the baby coming that it's numb. Just have faith that god will be with you to lessen the pain. It really isn't that bad and it is over the moment you see your baby. You forget all the trouble you went to to get them and just are in awe of the magnificence of birth.

I certainly didn't have anything cut! But don't worry, you will be in so much pain that you won't be aware of anything anyhow. I apparently lost so much blood I had to have an injection but I have no memory of the injection. The pain takes you away from anything else. Of course you are afraid, who isn't. Try to relax as much as possible, get as much sleep as possible before hand and take good care of yourself. Make sure you have plenty of snacks onhand incase your labour is long and even though you are in incredible pain try and eat regular so you can keep your energy levels up.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions. Ring your hospital and ask them the question you asked here. You have the right to know what is happening to you.
I hope it goes okay...good luck....

its depend because only God will help you because now you will be in human hand(doctor, nurses) but just be strong its usually come with pain from your back some come with abdominal pain.so if your vagina is small and the baby is big defentinely they will cut but if the baby is small is a normal birth if your vagina is big so its will be okay.please dont be afraid because you are now a mother so learn to be strong dont listining to people because giving birth is always different everybody has to face is own day.

they moniter ur contractions and the babys heart beat during the early stages of labor. they check you for dilation, and they don't also cut only if the baby is too big to come out they will cut ur vagina out, also sometimes the babys head is so big that it may streech so much and u'll tear so they'll have to stich that up but don't worry about things like that unless it happens. good luck

Just apply your breathing exercises(prenatal). well. Some would let you lie down and monitor your baby all the time. But walking is the best thing to do whilst you are in labor pain.
True if your passage is small or your baby is huge they can cut you with you or your husband's permission.
