He finally admitted to it, said he was bored and did it just for fun. We are going to counseling real soon. Do you think it will help? Has anyone had a similar situation with their spouse? (Background info.....his young sons in their 20's all found their spouses thru the internet.)

I think counselling will help. This probably really hurt your feelings. That doesn't just go away. On the other hand, it shows your husband still wants to be with you. He was just playing out fantasies in a way he thought was safe. Marriages can just get a bit stale. For everyone. It doesn't mean he wasn't happy or wanted to actually date any of these women. I'm not married but I've found the one. We've been together for two years. Every thing is perfect and I'm still ecstatically in love and in the giddy phase. I still find it interesting to look at the dating and romance section of yahoo answers. I like to look on craigslist at the dating personals. It's just interesting to me.

I think counseling will help. It will help you understand why he chose THIS avenue to work n his boredom, instead of coming to you or finding a healthy outlet.

I met my husband over the internet as well... and for a woman, it is the detached fun of "shopping" - and it can be very detached. I liked looking to see who was out there, but it isn't healthy for a married man to be doing this out of boredom. There are so many other things he can do... sports, online games, community projects and volunteerism...

Sure counseling will help... but you both still need to change your lifestyle so that your marriage has some spice in it and people dont just sit around surfing the internet for fun.
