English is a universal language and it is very important in communication. To compete for this fast changing world, one has to speak the common language. Globalizations demands it. Thailand students must acquire the good English skills in order to compete the demands for employment. Afterall, it would be an edge on our part.

English is the universal language of international commerce. Here's a first-hand observation that illustrates that point.

I work for a large multinational company with branches in many countries. While working at a branch in Italy last summer, a customer from Germany called to inquire about some of your products. The German customer did not speak Italian. The Italian clerck did not speak German. However, both of them spoke enough English that they were able to successfully transact business.

Although I do speak a bit of several languages, I'm virtually always able to conduct business in English in any country.
