it depends.. if you are going to another company in the same industry.. your experience will be beneficial...
but if you are joining a different industry... then your experience might not be 100% applicable... however... soft skills such as interpersonal skills, good communication skills are useful everywhere...
Besides experience.. employers are also looking for X factors, such as. a "CAN DO" attitude.. Team player... etc..

i was in this discussing a few days ago. we talked about seeing a trend in laying off ppl who've had many years experience and hiring ppl with lower pay expectations and not much experience.
i think experience used to count, but i don't see it as holding job security like it did before. more companies are looking to cut costs and do things like this and outsource. so no.
