Your dreams are just about the only thing worth chasing. The hope and expectancy they encompass you in are a positive force that makes your life better in almost every other facet.
You're focused. You have something to work towards. You learn optimism. You are challenged.
These things very often represent or manifest happiness in the human soul, and the result is that all the other areas of your life are effected for the better.
A person without dreams to follow is a sad example of humanity.

Depends on who is in the dream. Nyck, nyck, nyck.
But seriously. ("SURE DIO!" the whole board screams in unison)
I ignored them.
It depends on the dream, and what you give up to chase it. Probably the first thing you want to think about is what chasing it is going to cost you. If you think the possible result is worth the certain loss, you chase it.
Mundane example: Putting a dollar on Powerball. Chance of winning the millions, about zip. Chance of losing that dollar: pretty good (You have a 1 in 40 or so chance of getting two bucks back, so it isn't guaranteed you lose it).
Now, let's take it one step further. The jackpot gets up to 150 million. You empty all your bank accounts, tax your credit cards up to their limits, and mortgage your house to buy tickets.
The dream is the same. What you are giving up just changed drastically. And, I might point out, the chance of gaining that dream did not go up all that much statistically.
So, if you are going to chase a dream, have your head do a cost analysis first.

Well, it depeds on the way you see life.
You could chase dreams even if you know you're never going to catch them, just because you see life as a pure game you're only supposed to sit back and enjoy.
Or you could say "This is a waste of time/money/hamburgers/etc., there are more important things in life than... (fill in the blank)" or something like that.
It's like movies: Did you like Aeon Flux because even though it had no plot, it was fun, or did you hate it because it was such a waste of time? Do you even go to the movies, or are they a waste of time?
That's what you've gotta think about. Yeah.

Go and chase them suckers! I use my dreams for books and as a type of daily mantra. Everything in your head means something. You just have to sort out what it means when your awake.

if it weren't for dreams, the heart would break. It's really up to you to decide how hard you're willing to work to make your dream become a reality xx
