If you MUST work toward your degree online, make sure it is a degree from a "brick-and-mortar" institution, NOT a 100% online institution.
To find a good program of this sort, look for "distance education" programs from real universities. More and more state universities are beginning offer distance education these days, and your degree will be from a real school, not a diploma mill.
The completely online schools (Phoenix, Kennedy-Western, etc.) are NOT taken seriously in academia, nor by many employers, so avoid them completely.
