When you make calls outside of your normal service area, you are charged a "roaming" fee which differs between mobile providers. Roaming charges can be very expensive if you are not careful.

Suppose you're a subscriber to a mobile network H in City A and have gone to city B which is covered by mobile network I. Here you'll be roaming in network I. Roaming might also be in the same network (say H) but in different cities / countries...

Roaming is another word for borrowing.... When your phone states it's roaming(digital or analog) it means your current service providers towers/or service is not available & it needs to borrow service. For example Nextel is big on it's "NO ROAMING" charges, only beacase Nextel is run off the iDEN network and thier walkie-talkie service is not like GSM or CDMA . there fore they cannot roam(borrow service)even if they wanted to. The technology is differant. -

If ur using mobile, then it means that ur servise providers and providing u their service, this is possible when ur are in ur home network, that means u r staying inside the servise providers home circle, if ur out of the home circle, then u have to be connected to ur service providers by means of other network or the network that ur servise providers that u use in other circle.
when ur out of ur home circle ur said to be in roaming , there are diff types of roaming... national roaming, and international.
the charges made on ur incoming and outgoing will differ while ur on roaming(using ur mobile outside ur home network).
this is usually said to be roaming in mobiles!
