I thought Hinduism was the dominant religion there... if you are talking about the sport... back in the day India was a British colony... cricket is a British sport... makes sense to me.

Yes. No doubt about this at all. Though we have world class cricketers, but politics is always associated with Indian cricket In India, before world cup(50 overs, won by AUS) there was pooja & Havans as if these r required to WIN. After the world cup loss, players were threatened and insulted. Similar things was performed before 20-20 WC,fortunately IND won it. So,players were respected as if they r freedom fighters & private news channels covered it too much than required. Why IND Vs PAK match is given too much importance in IND & PAK. Foreign coach needed. Why ? Its to prevent politics. BCCI selection committee, ICL controversy and what not ? India cricket is all about Religion & Politics. Even PAK cricket is like ours. In fact, earlier PAK was part of India. Then WHY NOT ? Hope this answers your question from all Viewpoints. .

I wonder why!
At the time of cricket matches,it seems as if whole of India is at the mercy of the Gods(Tendulkar,Dravid and Dhoni,i mean).
Cricket(unfortunately) is considered as the pride and joy of the nation.
Pay some attention to tennis, football, boxing, swimming, cycling and athletics, people!
I hope India gets over this (stupid) game soon and I shall pray for it(no,not to Tendulkar, you fools!)

because Indians are a bunch of Lazy people. They will only shed off their laziness only when they go outta their home country.
Cricket usually is played from 900 am in to 1730 pm. This covers exactly the office time.. SO the employees will take the time off (from dozing off, wat else) to watch this stupid piece of game.
And in cricket you dont need that heavy amt of physical stamina like in SOccer or any other game. Indians has not won a olympic gold medal in some 40 years.
These Indian buggers give importance to stupid game instead of games that are really athletic...
it was a shame for me being an indian, when countries like somailia win gold medals in olympics while indians won only one silver medal...(and that too rathore, the ace shooter was not promoted or revered in the country)...but the indian crowd will pop for guys like tendulkar or dravid or ganguly....
If cricket is banned from this country the country will become much better. i mean really better.
