yeah..I say just get the tattoo. they really don't hurt...it's just uncomfortable. I just got my first one a month and a half ago..and it just felt stupid...lol..that's the only word I could use to describe it. I cry when I get poked..I'm a wimp..and I got a tattoo with no pain at all.

Due to advent of new technologies, now tatoo is no nightmare. You can have local anaesthesia and get the design which you like. after the effectiveness of anaesthesia it will pain but the pain is bearable. Now a days the tatoo is done with superfine niddle so even when it pricks, you get the minimum pain. Neverever have tatoo on your face. To start with back portion of your hips and waist is the best place. Second best place is shoulder ball or biceps.
Never have tatoo on your face that is my personal advise as after a passage of time when you are fed up, plastic surgery is the only remedy.
Just chill out. tatoo is no more painful. Good luck

There really is no way to simulate the pain of a tattoo, scratching really hard doesn't come close! I remember my tattoo being pretty painful, anyone who says it isn't, is lying or has a short memory! General rule is: the closer the tattoed skin is to the bone the more it will hurt, fleshier parts of the body are less painful and colour tends to hurt more than the outline.

However, the reason people still get tattoos despite the pain is that if you love your tattoo it is sooo worth it, and the pain itself triggers an adrelaine rush, which makes you feel great for hours!

pinch yourself with your nails in the area you want tatted that is about the pain level i felt when i had mine done
