Ping pong is packet sending phenomena in Computer networking.
When one computer sends an ICMP message to discover some computer and that is either off or packet is lost due to some reason in the network, so a response packet is generated to inform the initiater that the destination is unreachable.
in the mean time if initiator goes off, another packet is generated by the network to the computer which generated the earlier response packet. just see the figure below
