The law of Karma says that the basic responsiblities of a human being are divided in 4 stages
till 20 it is to understand, learn and grasp as much as you can.
from 20 to 50 have a family life, reproduce and earn money and enjoy the material pleasures of the world. from 50 to 70 its a mix to look after your family and indulge in religion and spend a part of your earnings helping thte poor and the upliftment of the society.

To treat others as you want to be treated. To bring children into the world and teach them this rule. Not everyone will do this but the thought of it is why people help the less fortunate, why charities exist, why some people are happy with what they have and aren't mad over something they don't have. This creates the feeling of inner happiness which is hard to describe but it can drive others crazy when you aren't fighting to get something that "they" think you can't live without.
