I have driven nearly all of Route 66. It's interesting if you enjoy the open road and desert in the western part of the country. Be carful, you can follow Rt. 66 specifically or the Highway that runs parralel to it, I'd take the highway, because the actual Route 66 can start and stop abruptly. I know this from experience. Once you get passed Texas, the trip really gets less interesting. If your looking for a great road trip, I would go all over some of the areas in the west, like AZ, NV, NM, or my fav- Utah. It's a lot of fun to just drive with no destination in mind and see where you end up. It gave me some of the greatest moments of my early 20's. Enjoy.

first you have my condolences for living in sacrademented. I have driven part of Rte 66 between kingman and flagstaff, az there were still some little towns along the way where you can see quirky museums and old food stands. also didn't have to deal with a lot of traffic on the road.
