If there isn't an afterlife, why are we alive?
Why do we dream and don't any of you give me a "scientific" answer cause there is things that not even science can explain or ever will.
there is sort of an after-life, living your life over and over again, hence the reason we get deja vu.
maybe none of this really exists, maybe were all someones dream/imagination maybe..... No sod the Matrix theory it's been done.
Well I hope there is one cause life is kinda boring at the mo.

...i dunno... the idea that we travel towards a bright light, wait outside a gate whilst it is decided how good or bad we were with our time on Earth, then go to either heaven were it is fab or hell, were it is really isn't - seems a little far fetched to me (i mean, how crowded would they be by now?!)
...I personally try looking at it in a different way.
Humans are big balls of energy. i.e. Heat energy. Now, if you did science at school you will know that energy can not simply be destroyed. It doesn't simply die. It has to be transferred.
So, what i like to think is that when we die, our 'souls' if you like, or the life 'energy' within us transfers to the outside world.
Whether that means we become apart of the wind (..too cheesy?) or just transfer into another body I don't know...
but it would explain why people have sensed 'presences' in the wind (cold air enters a room) or have had regression in which they remember a past life.
So in a way, i do think there is a life after this one, just instead of an afterlife where we all congregate in heaven; i believe we just start the whole process all over again.

There either is or there is not: we human beings have no way of finding out as a matter of fact whether there is an afterlife. You have to make your mind up as a matter of faith or remain undecided.
People who have been revived in hospital after being near to death, e.g. their heart has stopped, have reported "near death experiences". These include a sense of peace and an experience of travelling along a tunnel towards a bright light. Different people, including the atheist philosopher A. J. Ayer, have reported the same sort of things independently. These experiences cannot be proof but you might like to take them as suggestive.

I think this is a possibility than spotting UFO's. Many aspects of human mind which have not still been resolved by scientists exist. Lot of happenings have been reported which can baffle the human mind. There are many who do not believe in it, but according to Hinduism a person is reborn on the virtues of karma. It has been very difficult to believe for some but on the contrary if we believe that good karmas or good deeds shape our life in a positive way and make our existence in this planet a fruitful one, I guess that itself is more than believable. So all of you who believe in an afterlife do so, but remember to make your life worthwhile instead of just wasting it away. Life is very precious and we should consider ourselves lucky, well to make a difference or not is up to u.

Where there's life, there's hope.
Appears the hope is for an afterlife. Get it right now.

Definitely YES !However the form of afterlife may not be easily understood as most of us do not even understand the present one.

why should there be?
Ok - unhelpful answer.
I don't believe there is. There is no evidence for an afterlife - evidence worthy of being taken seriously.
Our time is now - from when you're born to when you die. So make the most of it while you can.

When faced with the great imponderables of the human experience, I always recite my own personal mantra... "I think, therefore I am...I'm pink, therefore I'm Spam". As Sting of the Police once put it, "De Doo Doo Doo, De Da Da Da". Sums it all up, really. Beats the hell out of joining a brainwashing cult and subjecting yourself to sleep deprivation and flagelation to achieve enlightenment, I always find.

I would sure like to see a study, using lie detectors, of people who claim they are sure and have memories of past lives. Not to discredit it, but because there are so many people who insist they know they have had past lives. I bet over 2 million people in the US believe in this form of after life. This would really open the door to it being known.
