bodyline bowling was the idea of Douglas Jardine to curb the Australian batsmen, especially Don Bradman, to score runs agains the English team in the 1930. the idea was basically to pack the legside behind square leg with fielders and bowl bouncers at the australian batsmen's heads so that if they fended the ball it would balloon to those fielders. his main weapon was Douglas Jardine who was fast and had no hesitation in injuring the batsmen. the rules in those days did not limit the number of bouncers that could be bowled in an over and mind u they had 8 ball overs those days. since the body of the batsmen were constantly targeted, hence the term "Bodyline"
the fallout of that series was the restriction on the number of fielders that can be positioned behind square, which is 2. similarly, with the advent of 1day games, the number of bouncers that could be bowled in an over has been restricted to 2.
the conclusion is that the bouncers r the same but bodyline is in the history books only.

Bouncers are atleast pitched deliveries but in bodyline bowling the deliveries were not necessarily pitched. Modern day out of line/length bowling can easily become an illegal one but that was not the case in bodyline bowling. Many batsmen had to wash their hands with their careers due to injuries received from facing bodyline bowling.

Both are different in some extent not much. In early body line bowling bowler can bowl as many as ball on above shoulder height there was no such rule for that but now a days bowler can bowl only one bouncer in one day er and 2 in test match and it should not be above head otherwise umpire can gave it no ball or wide ball so in modern cricket some rules come in cricket so that bowler can't hurt batsman.

Bodyline was bowling, extremely fast and into the body not away from the batsman. It was very dangerous and the risk of injury far exceeded anything fast bowlers do today.

Today the Batsmen have the protection gear for almost every delicate part of the body, earlier each & every part of the body used to be so susceptible, the basic principle initiated in Cricket was never to bowl on the body but to beat the batsmen with your pace, line & length. Well, the Aussies were so invincible those days, that the English therefore thought of flouting the rules.

in the old days you could have as many players as u want on the leg side so if u missed time a hook shot or whatever it would be caught. Nowadays u can only have a set number of feilders on the leg side
