Ya you are definitely right because on paper England team is most powerful team and most likely candidate for being champion so any lover can except good performance from them but they not able to perform well during the match so it is disappointment for any lover, So dont worry and have faith in Beckham and gang and hope for the best...

I think your expectations are so high because you've been sucked in by the Engllish press who always go completly overboard when it comes to world cups, Along with the Match commentators and Studio guests on TV.
They always raise England up for a mighty fall, lets face it a win against Hungary (Typical high cross ball tactics) and Jamaica pre World Cup and England went into a frenzy.
Germany beat the Hungarians 6:0 and they (the Germans) still looked at Germany's flaw's in that game, knowing that Hungary are a bad team just now.
Whereas the English press and Media treated the Hungarians as a very decent team........ Not true, and Jamaica played England when their Team was in disarray with arguments within the squad.
I think that Sven also has a lot to answer for sometimes his sustitutions are baffling and to say he got it right againt T&T is ludicrous those subs HAD to be made for he was a worried man, and as usual England scored with the BIG cross ball, Most Sunday league managers would have realised the need to bring on a winger to try to get down the flanks.... So it was NO master stroke by Sven.
Sven is by FAR Englands weak link.

The press and the English team always give the impression that they are world beaters and then they fail to live up to expectations.
You must admit that England invariably play boring football. They do not have the footwork of the south Americans nor the intelligence of Continental Europe nor the passion of Japan or Korea,
I suspect most of the team have booked their holidays starting on the 2nd July.

I was told when coming to live in England that it was a very different place to Ireland. In Ireland the national religion is RC and the national sport is football (three different types)

Well i knew that much! He then went on to say that in England the national religion was soccer and the national sport was sex.

If that be true maybe you should give up on religion as I did and take up sport.

Triumph of hope over experience.

We never learn.

Roll on the next match, England will play brilliantly, score a shedload of goals, have the player of the competition as well as the best 3 goals.

Won't they?
