I came to read some members asking about torts as pet and Feng Shui, some said is good but some said is bad. Just wonder which is right?

People have their own beliefs and the Chinese have believed in fen shui for thousands of years. Some of the feng sui principles are what we call common sense in the western world. Fend shui is trying to achieve balance, good luck and trying to do things logical. I find some westerners are taking too far and trying to dictate everything in their life by feng shui.

Anyway, I am big into turtles and torts, and I can give you input on feng shui and star tort.

In many Chinese businesses there may be different sorts of lucky animals on money. Often there is a turtle or a frog sitting on a pile of money to bring in good fortunes. This is a not really feng shui, but a good luck item.

Buddhism, it is believed good to save lives and if you save a life (release a turtle), it is good luck. I forget the exact story. But generally keeping a turtlle/tort wouldn't be considered lucky. It should be let go.

Anyway, I am not saying let go of your star tort, just saying there is no feng shui connections. Just enjoy it and don't get too carried away with feng shui.

Part of Feng Shui, if you believe in it, is the personality of the homeowner and of the Feng Shui practioner (people may claim it is absolute and objective, but it truely is more of an art than a science). Because of this, you can get very different answers from very different people.

it is my understanding that living things are almost always a positive thing, and in the Oriental cultures, tortoises are very good things- so I can only assume that the tortoise itself is good Feng Shui.

On the other hand, I am sure the enclosure has a huge effect- both on the health and welfare fo the tortoise, and on the room it is in.

Personally, however, I have yet to see any evidence that Feng Shui is any better for you than a decent sense of style is.

Feng shui is a bunch of crap. That's why so called experts on the subject will give you totally different answers to the same question. It's BULLSHIT

the tortoise in fengshui isnt really a tortoise, but a mythical animal which is a half tortoise and half dragon. to use this, you usually purchase a metal (must be metal, not plastic, usually available at chinatown in singapore) dragon tortoise, then put it at the middle of the wall at the back of your office or living, bec this will support you and your decisions in life.
