easiest way (no $$) is to start task manager (ctrl + alt + del)
click on processes tab
highlight wmplayer.exe
right click and window will pop up
set priority higher
If you are starved for resourses, they will go to win media player first

WOW lol I have heard of many things but songs running slow is a first. It has to be your sound drivers cuz it takes very little RAM/Processer speed to play a song. Unless you are playing it from another source (like a CD) then it is the buffers or cache that needs to be enlarged cuz it is hanging while it refreshes.

We need much more information.
Operating system, processor, RAM, what you are using to play the music, do you really mean the songs are shifting how long a song plays, or are the songs stuttering....please try to ask again with all relevant info.

You may need to install more ram or your hard drive maybe getting full....or try playing the music with minimal programs running in the background'
