If you're in a LAN and acces the internet, the whole activity (browsing/ftp/e-mail/etc.) is recorded in the poxy's log files. So it's not your laptop who will give you up. (although it might have some spying software built-in by the sysadmin).
If you know that it's an untolarated activity, you'd better stop at once and get working hard to overcome the lost time!
Filtering can be done also with the proxy's built in filtering rules. Someone just have to write those rules. (usualy also the sysadmin).
Ordinary/usual users don't have acces to these files.

Yes, yes, and yes again. Not only can your boss as the administrator determine you have been viewing porn ,but is entirely within his/her rights as your employer to do so.I am sure it is against your companies policy, and is an corrective action offense. This may even be a terminable offense. What you might do is stop doing it and hope the boss has not taken the time to check what sites the employee's are checking out on company networks. Also the host can notify the employer legally if the employer is paying for additional security issues like monitoring what is viewed on the network.(this is very unlikely but possible). If caught and fired for this offense you would not be able to collect unemployment benefits and you would probably not get a letter of recommendation from your current employer,so the answer is,STOP doing it,if you have already been caught apologize and say you were not aware it was against company policy to view on your own time.(breaks and lunch)Nothing personal but anyone old enough to have an employer should know this is not acceptable activity to your employer or on their resources, unless you work for an adult web site and even then I doubt they want you viewing others.Stop or pay the consequences.

If you are on a lan, your sysadmin can monitor the sites you go to by using tracking software. And since computers at work are part of the business and are intended for business use, you can be terminated for doing this at work. You can also be tracked viewing porn at home bu tracing the IP address you use thru your ISP.

Every site you visit is recorded somewhere, in fact in many places. Your local LAN admin knows, your ISP knows, Dubya knows, the router people know, the server people know.

Now, are you happy that everyone knows you're a normal American boy (75% of whom do the same thing)? Would your boss be happy to know your mind isn't on the work he's paying you to do?

Yes, there is scanning software to report visited pages - but of course such software has to be paid for and be installed.

Nobody has access to your laptop directly? Visited pages are kept recorded for some time...

I think this could be a solution.

Only if you are using : XP

Go to my computers --> right click the C folder --> select Sharing & Security --> Deselect the "Share this folder on the network" check box --> OK

This will change the item from "a hand holding the drive" to an ordinary drive icon.

This could avoid someone else viewing your contents on your laptop.

Keryep. Also, they can shut down, record, watch live, anything. Better start collecting the blackmail material, or kicking your habit. I'd go for the latter.
