Front side: looks nice especially when people come to your house for the first time. You can plant the pretty flowers etc.

Back side: I think is for your own pleasure. IThat is were I would have a big garden with trees and what not. If you have a small back yard then you should have a backyard garden. That way you have more privacy (such as sunbathing)

That mainly depends on your own personal preferences. I suggest that wherever you think it will look best that other people will think it looks good there too.

I personally like the backyard the most unless the house has a humongous front yard that is much larger than the backyard. A garden also sometimes looks good around the left or right side of your house too.

It partially depends where you have the space, the right amount of light reaching the garden, the correct drainage, and the correct soil to plant the garden there. Although, if you don't have the correct soil, you can always add topsoil.

Are you going to plant flowers and shrubs? Trees? Going to have a vegetable garden? Are you going to take care of it and keep the weeds pulled out or just let it grow up? Check each location for the amount of sun it gets, how much shade there is, and what your soil is like. You could do both front and back. Make a few flower beds in your front yard and put in a small veggie patch in the back. I use the square foot garden method and it really works like a charm. Also, my beds are raised. Everything is organic at my place, no herbicides or pesticides used-just things that doesn't go against our environment. What ever you choose to do, plan well before you start. Put in on paper to scale. Then go from there. Hope this helps.

Gardens are beautiful anywhere, but it also depends on what you would like to grow. Check the property for shade and soil conditions, as well as drainage. What might flourish in one area may do poorly in another. So you should consider what type of garden you'd like before choosing the location.
