The Earth is about 13 thousand kilometers (8000 miles) wide, whereas the Sun is roughly 1.4 million kilometers (900,000 miles) across. This means it would take more than 100 Earths to span the width of the Sun! If the Sun were a hollow ball, you could fit about 1,300,000 Earths inside of it!

I would first like to correct "Jack the Ripper", which is not a good name anyway. Now, the most accepted theory is not that the sun will "suck in" the Earth, but that the sun will expand to a size that it will engulf the Earth and the moon. By this point, the moon will no longer have effects on Earth, and so the weather will be uncontrolled, as the Earth will spin without the stability the moon's gravity gives.

the TIP of a sharpened pencil compared to a basketball. One day this sun will change star stages and will become much larger, the theory is that it will become so big that it will suck in earth since it's gravity force will be great.
