Its a pinched nerve. use cold pompresses, and pain killers for the first few days, then try heat, If it continuse more than a few days, go to the doctor.

Not to worry. I suffer from the same thing. Turns out it's weak lower back muscles and when you bent over you over stretched one of them. The pain is the muscle spasming. Go to your physician and have him check it out. He'll probably give you a prescription for a muscle relaxant and tell you to put a heating pad on it to reduce the swelling and relieve the pain. The next step is to strengthen those muscles. Most of the chairs that we sit on are not designed to fit our backs properly so we wind up having those muscles constantly stretched. Check the web for sites that deal with back injuries and you'll find exercises for toning up those weakened muscles. In the future, you might invest in a lumbar cushion for when you're sitting so your spine will be held in the proper alignment.

OH ya. I've had that happen about 3 times in my life. It takes a week of pain killers, and muscle relaxants, and lying on your back for about a week. It's hell. When your back is better, start doing some back exercises so that you build up your back. You're probably like me and sit around too much.
