Communism (little c) is the system of government adopted by any group of people who live collectively or in agreement. All communities are communist in that they collectively decide issues. The primary difference is how they go about making choices. Some communist societies prefer a single authoritarian leader while other communist societies prefer no leaders.
The US and most western nations are in the middle and use elections to choose the people who will represent the communal or collective will of the people.
Anyone who lives in a community of any kind is a communist and practices communism.

Communism is a doctrine developed by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and spelled out in their book the Communist Manifesto and explicated in the four volume work Das Kapital. It lays out the development of economics and politics historically through the industrial age, the period and philosophy known as capitalism, which all industrial countries had at the time (see the work of economist Adam Smith). Marx and Engels then stated that captalism was sacrificing the lives and economic and physical well-being of the masses of people known as the working class, or proletarians. These masses were exploited by the capitalists or the bourgeoisie. The Communist Manifesto theorized and urged that the workingmen of all countries would ignore national distinctions, throw down their guns against each other and organize and fight the bourgeoisie for ultimate control of the industries, the organs of capital, known as the means of production. At first a few who led the masses would create a dictatorship of the proletariat (working class) for the benefit of all. The remaining bourgeois class would be allowed the option of converting to the new system or being eliminated. Instead of democracy (allegedly, majority rule), unanimitiy would prevail as workers worked collectively for the benefit of all. The standare would be (from the famous Communist Manifesto slogan) "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs" Marx and Engels ended the Manifesto with the famous battle cry to urge the communist revolution to take place: "Workingmen of all countries, unite!" Another famous slogan from the Manifesto is "Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains". I hope that helps you begin to understand.

Communism is both a social and political ideology. In theory, it is based on establishing a classless society with common ownership by “the people.” The collapse of the Soviet Union has been used as an example of the colossal failure of the communist system.

A dream of mankind to paly fair and be nice. It just totally ignores the fact that people are basically selfish and jealous beings. It really doesn't matter that your neighbour has the exact same sized plot as you do, it's over on the other side of the fence, therefore it must be better, if its better we will covet it. Its a really good idea though, just woefully optimistic

Communism is a form of government that in theory suggest that everyone is equal. Equal pay for all workers, equal food for all citizens, sounds good? However the problem insues with corrupt leaders. Also everything is controled by the government, housing, media, medical care, which jobs who has what.
