What i found on wikipedia- Reasons
erosion by rivers, glaciers, or ocean waves create oversteepened slopes
rock and soil slopes are weakened through saturation by snowmelt or heavy rains
earthquakes create stresses that make weak slopes fail (see liquefaction, Hope Slide)
volcanic eruptions produce loose ash deposits, heavy rain, and debris flows.
vibrations from machinery, traffic, blasting, and even thunder may trigger failure of weak slopes
excess weight from accumulation of rain or snow, stockpiling of rock or ore, from waste piles, or from man-made structures may stress weak slopes to failure and other structures
groundwater pressure acting to destabilise the slope
in shallow soils, the removal of deep-rooted vegetation that binds the colluvium to bedrock.

A landslide occurs when rain water filters through the loose soil at the top of a hill and reaches a bedrock shelf. At the shelf, the water collects and forms a loose layer of rock and dirt. This layer provides a low friction surface. The weight of the rocks and dirt above this layer cause the top of the hill to break away and slide down under the force of gravity. The effects can range from a slight change in the landscape in remote areas to death and destruction in populated areas such as the California coastline.

A landslide is a geological phenomenon which includes a wide range of ground movement, such as rock falls, deep failure of slopes, and shallow debris flows, see flow. Although gravity acting on an over steepened slope is the primary reason for a landslide, there are other contributing factors:
erosion by rivers, glaciers, or ocean waves create oversteepened slopes
rock and soil slopes are weakened through saturation by snowmelt or heavy rains
earthquakes create stresses that make weak slopes fail (see liquefaction, Hope Slide)
volcanic eruptions produce loose ash deposits, heavy rain, and debris flows.
vibrations from machinery, traffic, blasting, and even thunder may trigger failure of weak slopes
excess weight from accumulation of rain or snow, stockpiling of rock or ore, from waste piles, or from man-made structures may stress weak slopes to failure and other structures
groundwater pressure acting to destabilise the slope
in shallow soils, the removal of deep-rooted vegetation that binds the colluvium to bedrock.

Landslides constitute a major geologic hazard because they are widespread, occur in all 50 states and U.S. territories, and cause $1-2 billion in damages and more than 25 fatalities on average each year. Landslides pose serious threats to highways and structures that support fisheries, tourism, timber harvesting, mining, and energy production as well as general transportation. Expansion of urban and recreational developments into hillside areas results in ever increasing numbers of residential and commercial properties that are threatened by landslides. Landslides commonly occur in connection with other major natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, wildfires, and floods. Effects of these disasters exacerbate relief and reconstruction efforts. Growth of urban areas and expanded land use elsewhere have increased the incidence of landslide disasters.

Your relationship with the lord Jesus is more important. Stay away from sex until you get married, and as one person posted, if you seek God he will bless your marriage. These blessings are not because you got married virgin, but they are as a result of your new nature in Christ. "For whosoever is in Christ is a new Creation, old things have passed away and behold everything has become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). So, forget about all past guilt and focus on your future. I didn't marry as a virgin, but my wife was, and our marriage is blessed.

Usually because of heavy rainfall, the soil becomes so waterlogged that is almost a runny mud. Also through road works, cutting through mountains. That's as much as I know, others will be able to tell you more and more correct at that.

It's amazing when you type "landslides" into a search engine how much information you can get. Hope this helps.
