I believe that Persian Gulf was the original historical term. With the rise of Arab Nationalist thinking in the 1960s, the Arabs used the term Arabian Gulf... al-Khaleej al-Arabee
The United Nations takes the view that Persian Gulf is the appropriate terminology to use

There is NO a country called Arabia. It is Saudi Arabia. Arabia means the land of Arabs, and that is the Persian Gulf in general except Iran and Turkey who do not speak Arabic. This is not them trying to change the name, but actualy they are correcting the Westerners who can't tell difference between Arab and a Persian.

They don't realize the history gave this name to the gulf and it was the grate emperor of Persia who opened and built Suez Channel.
With a little respect they should understand that Gulf and countries and mountains ... are not names of streets to change or choose.
