didnt really see the movies but where did superman go for him to return?

He supposedly went back to his home planet of KYRIPTON to find out what exactly happend and came back to earth 5 yrs later.
This is supposed to take place after Superman 2 with Christopher Reeves as Superman. The movies they made after that we are supposed to foget about. It never happened.

its not been said, and since the movie doesn't start until June 28th, we'll have to wait til then.....if its even in the movie.
