i downloaded a file which is in wma/wmv format.. but i can't play it with my windows media player.. it seems kinda odd coz i play most of my videos there.. my friend is saying that the file was too compressed when i downloaded it or i may not have the right codec..
help pls...

i got this from a file sharing thing.. filecloud.com to be exact...

Try media player classic... it's a free download at

I've got it and it works on many types of media files. I downloaded it to play "Elephants Dream" two weeks ago.

it can't be too small, if he said it was compressed, i'm not quite sure what hes refering to. but the wrong codec may be true, many people change like AVI files to WMV because they think it will work. one question though, did you get this off a file sharing network like bearshare? or Kazaaa? or Limewire?

if u want play this type of file u can install real player or media player version 10.00. if u have u can run this type file.
