What is the best sport in the world? (And you'd better not say "soccer," silly)?

Ok, soccer fans, you'd better have a damn good answer if you want to say soccer is better than baseball. You'd best show me the mathematical equation that explains how soccer (non-American football) is strategically better than baseball. And show me how the 1972 World Series is less exciting than than the 1986 World Cup with that drug-dealer Maradona as the star with that "phantom goal." He cheated! He touched the f***-ing ball with his f***-ing hand!!! No wonder soccer is for third-world countries!!! The 1972 A's are the best sports team ever! No drugs--no cheating!!! In the Mexican newspapers the A's dugout was known as "La Cueva del Odio" (The Cave of Hatred) because of their off-the-field fighting against each other...but on the field they are the best damn sports team ever to take the field--baseball or otherwise. Answer that, thou followers of an inferior sport.

Baseball may be the all American sport, but it is not the best sport in the world. And if you are talking about strategy, do you really think those basketball players (not the sharpest tools tools in the box), really have the skill to consider strategy at such quick play and such a small court.

Rugby - The game of gentlemen, on the other hand has the skill, the intelligence, the strategy, the speed and you can 'get right in there' without needing all this girly padding. Arguably, for me the best sport in the world. Shame the Americans are no good at it ;o)

Good thing there are no drugs in baseball. Did someone whisper Vida Blue, Steve Howe, Daryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez, the '85 Pittsburgh Pirates, etc. etc.? Did someone say Canseco, McGwire, Giambi (they didn't play for the Oakland A's did they? Nah, that would be *too* ironic), Sosa, Caminiti, Clemens, Palmiero, Bonds? ... did someone say 'BALCO'?

And boy wouldn't you be embarassed if there were an entire wikipedia page on baseball players suspended because of drug offenses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Baseball_players_suspended_for_drug_offenses

And it's a good thing that no basketball players have been implicated in drug problems (to say nothing of weapons charges or domestic battery), and that football is completely steroid-free.

P.S. I love baseball *and* soccer (and football and basketball and hockey). I.e. I actually like (and play) sports.

Mixed Martial Arts (The UFC, and Pride Fighting).
This is by far the best, most exciting sport in the world, followed by American Football, followed by Wrestling (the real stuff not that fake crap), followed by Basketball, and yes soccer is by far more exciting than baseball... baseball sucks.
It is so slow you could sleep through 8 innings and still know whats going on... and all the baseball players are on roids, or some other foreign substance of an illegal nature.

1.Its the most popular sport in the world (except US where ppl want quantity and not quality that's y you prefer basketball,baseball)
2.Its the only sport that is a true reflection of life it self and can show you much about characteristics of a team or a player's personality
3.Its the only sport that needs exercised every part of your body(even head and neck!!)
4.Anyone can play it since it does not make any discriminations(poor-rich,tall-Short etc.)

well soccer is the best sport cause all you need is a ball and an open space, you dont need any fancy equiptment , you dont need to be tall or short or fast or slow ,all you need is determination ( by the way that is from a movie called " the game of their lives" ) i will say that baseball is a good sport but not the best

I think you answer the question quite well for yourself. One only has to look at the logic of: foot plus ball equals football, and base plus ball equals rounders - an english boys game from the 18th century.

Whereas; American football equals hands plus ball, and American baseball means Rochester and Cooperstown, New York, fighting over who re-invented the game.

The sheer numbers involved in 'the world sport' simply outweigh the question.
