The natural flora of womens' vaginas are lactobacilli. When the area is healthy the bacteria can prevent the growth of unwanted or pathogenic bacteria. If you take antibiotics or clean 'too efficiently' down there you can upset the balance of normal flora and other bacteria grow in the area which make that 'fishy' smell. So basically, it is an infection of the area and needs to be attended to by a physician with a quick dose of the correct anti-bacterials.

If there is a fishy smell you most likely have a bacteria infection, i would contact your gynecologist, or even a local planned parent hood for a pap smear as soon as possible! It's very common, and doesn't make you dirty, it's just part of being a woman, but you should really get it taken care of, you'll just have to take some pills for a week or so, good luck!

The 'fishy' smell is usually the sign of an infection. Any smell is a warning sign down there. Go to your GP and they will take a swab and have the results to you within days. The right medication can clear you up almost immediately. Good luck!!

Yes, that is true. That spot is like a nursing home for basteria with ideal conditions for them to live(36 degrees celsius, rather high humidity and lots of (you know) to make a decent meal.
