Note my "nice looking" word choice please ;-)

(I tryed paint, it's too pixilated, and it doesn't give me that look I want that I can get with transparent backgrounds, but when ever I try it in a different art program what you said it still shows the background and not the cut out, and I don't know enough of C++ to code one LOL)

oh I have to save it as a ".ico", maybe that's why, I'll try it THANKS!

I prefer adobe editors or corel .. by far . flash icons workd better by the way .. good luck

Open those files in an editor (Windows Paint for example) and resize the image to the sufficient size and save the file as ".ico"

go to download.com and search icons or icon maker, that will help you out big time.
