The atom is made up of protons, neutron and electrons. Electrons are so small that they have "negilgible mass". However quarks are smaller as they are the bits that proton and neutrons are made of. It's something to do nuclear decay. A proton can knid of unwind and turn into a neutron and energy is emitted as it does so. There are also things called gluons that are at the same fundamental level but im not sure on sizes etc.

By the way 'nano' is a unit of length. A small unit to be sure but its not a particle

my husband's sex drive? soooooo bad.....

so NOT true, by the way....just seemed like a funny response. To the best of my knowledge, quarks are still the smallest (of course, college physics was many moons ago, and by now they have discovered 100 particles smaller than a quark).

In the Vedas a smaller particle is called the paramanu.
The paramanu according to the Nyaya-Vaisesika is 0.79x10^-22cm in diameter.

I don't think so...quarks are considered one of the smallest bits of atoms, protons, etc.
